What is it about Racism by Filipino nationals living abroad?

As the news of yesterdays hostage crisis broke my twitter account went crazy and messages come in from people normally not connected with TP. Things like “why you marry a Filipina there when you have women in your own country, I hate foreigns”. Which confused me a bit as the fact they stated “there” I can assume this person lives outside the Philippines so its ok to be an OFW in the UK for example but not for someone to marry someone from the Philippines? Also the fact they themselves are “foreign” as they are in a host country. Bizarre.. We get it from all parts of the globe and the BNP in the UK which you can research online had an invite to a political TV show that had protestors and a lot of aggressive anti-racism people there. But at the same time I was telling people let the guy speak.. Like most racists they don’t make any sense they haven’t thought things through and only literally see things in “black and white”. Not actual context or ability so without a doubt his showing on that TV show pretty much damaged the BNP’s credibility in the UK as they could see this guy was no natural leader and lacked any real political ability except to play the race card.

But what I find fascinating about the Filipino’s that do attack via email generally under pseudo’s is that they are generally living in the US. They are American Filipinos and not the first generation. There are chips on the shoulder but I often wonder if they even understand the problems of the Philippines as many have never even been here. Have they studied historically the Philippines? Do they understand where the average person moving here actually creates jobs and brings investment over plundering? To be honest I doubt it. They are seeing a foreigner and assume we are here for some unknown reason and the Philippines is theirs.. but if that is so why are you still sitting whining in the US? If your educated you can actually benefit the Philippines as it does need skilled people but leave the attitude and racism behind its not needed anywhere on this planet.

As regards me.. being just some foreigner which I can’t understand what you are babbling on about.. The fact is I am self-sufficient I have created jobs here and look to develop the area around me. What have you done for what you call your country? If the world functioned with the racism you have in your bitter heart where do you think 10 million OFW’s would be it wouldn’t be abroad that is for sure. So wake up and try and do something constructive with your life. Your bitterness and hatred was not done by people like me and unlike you I am actually here trying to help.

Finally I would like to say the majority of Filipino’s I know aren’t like this but then again the majority of them are here in the Philippines. Many try hard to make foreigners welcome and although they do feel the frustration of life here they don’t blame us.

The problems in the Philippines are caused by foreigners! Everything that has happened from the corruption and exploitation of the Filipino is caused by Americans who rape our country of not only its resources but also its people. Yes I live in the U.S.A. but I cannot afford to go home I wish I could. All Foreigns should leave.

I know exactly what you mean! Also what makes me angry is how Filipino,s abroad get so uptight about being poked fun at,whilst themselves poking fun at foreigners.

To AnnoyedPinoy. The problems in the Philippines are not caused by foreigners, but by the corruption that pervades Filipino society.

Its something i will never understand.. but then again lucky enough i dont have to..lol decided to give up trying to work out things like this as more often than not it doesn’t make any sense and its unlikely to change.. Get people up tight here and they tell you to go home.. thing is this is my home racism has no place in a multicultural society and its about time a lot of people realised it..

    To annoyed Pinoy..

.hiding under a pseudonym and claiming yourself Pinoy is the annoying part.If you are in America, you have not even learned from your life there leaving with the Locals(the Americans ) and your fellow kababayans. Why do you choose to stay there and work and earn US dollars and eat with the same people who you say RAPE our country? Filipinos are only exploited because they allow it to happen.Even then lowliest, uneducated Filipino,i believe has a mind of his own and would not allow to be trampled upon, but it is many times over that ignorance of our rights still prevails, and we are still trapped in the colonial mentality that we are famous of.Try to live here and see for yourself. Many are lost in the consumerism and social networking hype that eats up 50 percent of the time of many Pinoys that should have been used for more productive purposes, the over hype religious/social controversies that divides rather than unite, the unending corruption, etc..we choose how we live an dthis is the kind of life that Pinoys live brought about by the many problems that has enslaved us,caught up in the web of social, political, economic, religious immaturity and instability. They are not caused by foreigners..You should try to make something good out of your life in the US and be thankful you have not been eaten up by recession, if you do, you will find yourself going back to the Phils, and whining again about the foreigners here.
