using yellow taxis (airport taxis) around Cebu

One thing a lot of people aren’t aware of is that yellow taxi’s charge a minimum fee of around P75 compared to the white taxis that charge P35. For a traveller or someone with a bit of spare cash in their pocket its often better to travel via the yellow taxis when needed. The first thing is they don’t grumble about the distance when you first arrive and try to haggle on price when you need to go to a province as they have already got extra in the payment. The other reason being as we found out when waiting for a taxi at SM mall on a busy day in heavy rain there was a huge queue of people waiting for taxi’s but nobody wanted to pay the price of a yellow taxi which allowed us to jump the queue completely saving us about a 20 minute wait and a soaking. Wasn’t that we intentially wanted to jump the queue we waited but nobody wanted to pay the minimum charge. So a bit of advice if struggling to get home etc. and can see a yellow taxi might be worth trying to flag it down over a white one as most people don’t seem to like forking out the extra few pesos.
