Shipping container home – Mactan, Cebu, Philippines ( budget accommodation / home )

Shipping container home

I came across an Expat earlier this year who had invested in shipping container homes as I was currently looking at the project as well. Sadly to say though the Expat has now returned to the UK on business and made three container homes available for sale. They are currently sited on a lot on Mactan island in a location that isn’t too much of a trek from the resorts and also not too far from the airport. They are currently on a 6000sqm site which currently 2000sqm of the lot is allocated to the units. The units are either being looked at for sale separately or for the lease to be continued by the new owner which I would advise negotiating with the landlady of the lot separately if interested in purchasing the units.

If you already have land I can’t see relocating the units to another place being too much of a task with the right equipment of which can be sought probably at the port area if you don’t know of any contacts yourself. The units would be ideal for a first time mover to the Philippines looking for either a budget home while they construct a main house or for living in as these units are very low maintenance and “ready to go” already kitted out with air conditioning and furniture. If its not to your ideal liking please remember that you can adjust them to suit your personal needs and having doors central also allows easy modification to the buildings. An ideal starter home for a couple or an expat who is worried about losing a home if their marriage goes sour. Leasing the land separately and taking on containers you can be the owner 100% as its not a “fixed structure”. more info:- Shipping container home  Shipping container home Shipping container home Shipping container home Shipping container home

Electrics and everything else are working on site. The lease on the lot can be re-negotiated with the lot owner there is upto 6000sqm available (the containers are currently sited on 2000sqm of the site). The seller has reduced the price to P600,000 for the 3 units.

Hi there! I just want to know if there is anything like this in Manila? If you have one, hope you can email me the cost.

There are some manufacturers of container homes in Manila but they are based round “modular” which are not shipping containers they will also generally only give a guaranteed life of 10 years on the home. This is why doing the conversion with your own workers would be more beneficial in the long run. Costs a bit more but maintenance will be less and should be good for 20 years upwards.
