After time here you find a lot of women will approach any foreigner but generally its the ones that don’t which seem to be much better choices. Why? because they are more reserved, family orintated and generally working so understand financial responsibilities. Long term all these things are important, as well as one thing too many don’t even look at real compatibility. You see with time living here in Cebu you start to realise more often than not people are living like small islands because most people around them don’t understand the broader world due to the way the country is very insular so both being good cooks you can do things like introduce new kinds of dishes to each other. Enjoying diving, fishing and general time together are all important key factors to a happy relationship and good marriage but too often its about sex and pretty much after that there isn’t a lot going on around anything else as hobbies and interests need to develop but can only do that if you know what your partners are or what she would like to try/experience. There are some extremes I have seen where an expat’s wife literally just sits upstairs while he will work downstairs, literally she does sit upstairs the maids have to take her dinner up to her.. but in other extremes I have seen the husband at the top of the house while the wife lives at the bottom. If your not building a relationship you don’t need a girlfriend or wife and personally if things are this sour I would stay single. My own marriage is different as we have a lot in common and generally the biggest issue is time as I am often working and my wife is busy with our kids, leaving me to struggle to have family time and my wife struggling to relax from sleepless nights and running around during the day after our new arrival (1 month old yesterday). At the same time we are happy and acknowledge the fact we do need family time and days at the beaches etc with just the two of us and hopefully in January we can start to do that again as the dust starts to settle on our busy schedules.
