‘Pilipinas Kay Ganda’ will greet tourists from Monday instead of WOW Philippines (expression meaning very beautiful)

With the realisation that the Philippines is only picking up the crumbs of the Tourism market available in Asia its decided to take on a new slogan “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” in a bid to reinvigorate the tourism campaign of the country. President Benigno Aquino III said the new slogan will launch on November 15th and replaces the “WOW Philippines”.

The Philippines government is hopeful the new campaign will double tourist arrivals within the next three years which was posted on the Presidential Communications Operations Office Website.

There is also being talk of training of tourism Police as well as guides to ensure safety of locals and foreign tourists. Earlier on this month the Department of Tourism issued notice it would be allocating P100 million for new media promotions including a new website to reach its goal to double tourist arrivals.

A novel idea nobody probably has looked at regarding tourist police is something could be done on the lines of Thailand where Expat’s volunteer to assist as “tourist police” this cuts down on the number of arrests and headaches for local police as well as helps build good relationships between locals and foreigners. Maybe its something they should be looking at?

Foreigners don’t know what it means!

They better use another English slogan or just develop the current Wow Philippines!

Good point Stanton_75 – From my point of view the Philippines actually needs to do work in other countries so people know what is here and that it exists than coin names.. Its like there are good tourism videos for the Philippines but not enough people get to see them. Getting a professional in to actually promote the Philippines abroad instead of getting it done locally could have a major positive affect, but what do I know.. never seen an advert or any tour operators in the UK having any information on the Philippines. No effort at all being made inside the UK. Also they could ask the OFWs to assist with operations outside the country if they are trying to avoid spending too much money on promotion campaign. Problem is with tourism its a speculate to accumulate business, if nobody comes nobody knows about it here.

I suspect 99% of people outside the country would not have a clue where Pilipinas is if you asked them and no idea how to pronounce it.
