Philippines Porn

Porn is cheaper than datingPhilippines porn industry came up randomly while I was sick not in the sense of sat at home watching some suspect movies but by a documentary I came across covering the subject about the Porn industry for sale in the Philippines. I was interested for all the wrong reasons simply because any pornography is illegal in the Philippines so was wondering how things would unfold in the documentary were we going to see raids on mass produced DVD factories and porn studios?

Answer is no, what it covered as talking to so called celebrities. Well they may be celebrities or used as it often is here its a tag line rather than anything of merit. The people they talked to came from the Filipino film industry yet seemed to be doing photography shoots and not filming so not 100% who they were could just as well been art students and probably were but celebrities does make it more interesting to the audience rather than saying we will talk to a few students. Anyway point was they talked about others being paid around P30,000 per movie which in real money terms the average salary in the Philippines (Varies considerably due to the extremely rich to the damn right poor) around P12,000 a month to give an idea of the porn paycheque value. But this is where I got a bit irritated as they talked about the fact these poor artists weren’t supposed to have their movies released in the Philippines they were made for markets abroad which is why we often hear of “Philippines scandal of celebrity X”. Sorry maybe I missed something because rewinding to the beginning of this article PORN IS ILLEGAL so saying I didn’t expect to be watching myself on a DVD really doesn’t cut it for me and I would prosecute people for being in the movies in the first place.

Off my soap box for a minute it then cut over to a known celebrity here I forget his name but he was famous for burning his U.S. passport when he came back to the Philippines. But anyway who is to blame for the movies? Is it the vendors on the street, people in them, people producing them, DVD factories?? Nope its Indonesians the excuse given is that there is an underground market in Indonesia for Filipino porn. Must be really hard to catch these people when they are going round asking celebrities if they want to be in porn movies I guess.. Another problem for the Philippines that will not go away down to one thing “admitting responsibility”. Filipinos are selling the DVDs on street corners, no doubt producing them in the country, Filipinos are in the movies and no doubt there will be Filipino contacts finding the people for the filming if not entire camera crews and movie makers.

Another rant off my chest this week sorry 9 days of illness and a lot of it spent researching when awake. If the Philippines is to progress it needs to stop being the victim and realise that anyone who takes part in something illegal is part of the problem and all involved should be arrested and brought to justice.
