In all the years I have spent in the Philippines tourism has always seemed to be at the bottom of the list of priorities. There is a big push on local tourism and OFW money. But foreign investment and tourism has never been seen as important. I am sure there are others who will argue a different viewpoint. But even taking it on comparison to Thailand a near neighbour the numbers simply don’t stack up.
Things like bullet in the bag is one of the many reasons it doesn’t draw the same amount of international interest. Other reasons include dynamite fishing.
If we are truly honest tourism doesn’t have an affect on the controlling families, as such its not likely to change and bullet in the bag is a minor hinderance.
