Magellan Marker

Punta Engaño, Lapulapu City-  20 km from Cebu City- Encouraged by the success of Christianizing the people of Cebu, Magellan crossed the channel into Mactan Island in an effort to spread the faith. Before he reached the shores, he was attacked and killed by the chieftain of the island, Lapulapu and his men during the battle for supremacy and freedom on April 27, 1521. Efforts to retrieve the body of Magellan were made inspite of the offer to trade jewellery and spices for the dead body. This marker was erected in 1866 to mark the spot where the great explorer died.

      Hi Rich,
the water marking is important as it helps advertise your site as well. E.g. if you post some funny pictures and they get reposted on forums your getting free publicity. At the same time it also helps people from ripping your photos for commercial use. Don’t mind but I don’t see why we should be taking the photos for someone else to profit from it. The descriptions will become more important over time on photos so advise going back over your old ones aswell..
