While James Yap was busy preparing for a crucial game last Sunday night at the Big dome against the San Miguel Beerman to get a semi-finals slot. His wife Kris Aquino was on her final appearance on the Buzz telling the world her marriage was finished and over.
Before the game James took a time out to participate in the PBA’s outreach program unusually busy with other news media journalists he carried on oblivious to his wife’s announcement alongside Commissioner Sonny Barrios to do the book reading for around 30 orphans.
Come game time he seemed off form in the first half missing his first few free throws and couldn’t find the basket. Which seemed of as he was telling others of how he was putting in extra work to help cover the injury of Kerby Raymundo who is still sidelined. After the rough first half he started to make up for it in the second. Eventually gained form scoring 18 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds. The news of the what had happened on the Buzz only reached him after the game via text.
With an average of 18.1 ppg, 35-percent 3-point shooting clip, 3.1 rebounds and 2 assists, he’s in the Top 5 amongst local players. There’s Jimmy Alapag, Kelly Williams, Ranidel de Ocampo and Mac Cardona. Since they won the All-Filipino crown, it boosts his Most Valuable Player campaign. They would need to make it to the finals to strengthen his chances. With all the current off the court problems he seems still very capable to deliver.
Asked if he’ll attend the presidential inauguration on June 30, without batting an eyelash, he said he would go to support his brother-in-law President-Elect Noynoy Aquino. Maybe showing support and respect to the Aquino family is so important to him that he’s willing to put up with the media interest.
