Hanging rice Cebu “Puso” how its made

Hanging rice (Puso) is something Cebu is famous for in the Philippines but how is it made? As its generally how you buy cooked rice when your buying street foods or just needing a “takeaway” rice with chicken.

What actually happens before the cooking process is that coconut palm leaves are formed into strips that can be used for weaving. The uncooked rice is then placed into the coconut palm leaves in its unique shaped rice holder.

Once ready the rice is then put into drums for cooking on an open fire.
