Growing Mango's in the Philippines (Mango tree)

Growing Mango's in the Philippines (Mango tree)

This is a hybrid Mango tree that has yet to bare fruit. Its a few years old and the metal round the base is to prevent attacks from goats. Although we live in a town area we actually do get loose goats wondering up the road from time to time and generally they love a nice garden with lots of mixed green leaves to eat.

Now if your thinking of growing mango’s the first thing is they do take time and a lot of it before you get fruit someone can fill in the number of years as no doubt it varies on the different varieties as well as no doubt some manipulation can be done to improve the time scale.

But the second thing is to be aware of how big they can grow as the one above is around 10ft tall but as you can see on the one below we actually have people climb the tree to get the fruits which to be honest is a fair old harvest when it does happen and that’s our multi-cab parked under it not a toy car.
