Dirty old men and young Pinays

Now don’t get me wrong in thinking I am on a crusade here but today was one of the most vulgar things I have seen in the Philippines since I arrived. Was it people lying about baby milk on TV? maybe a celebrity endorsement of a politician maybe? Nope it was a grey haired old guy around 70 with a girl looking no more than 17 on his lap kissing and cuddling in the middle of Gaisano ground floor sat on a bench.

Why is it a problem? Ask a Scotsman what happened to the illegal immigrants that England brought into the UK they sent to Scotland that messed around with the local women. A lot of stabbings happened for those that can’t be bothered to research. The fact is this bull that old guys are seen as educated and wise compared to others is a complete myth. The reason girls are hanging around them (Generally very low class girls at that) is that they have money. At some point I can see some of the locals having enough of this being waved in their face and at which point I can hear cries from the Expat community that the silver surfer was abused and murdered without causing confrontation.

Reality check here you are old she is young and people are aware its all about the money. The same reason that if you started poking a married woman don’t expect any sympathy if you get on the wrong side of a bolo (long knife).

For anyone here mind young or old there is etiquette in Asia not just the Philippines about public affection and generally people don’t show it, its just a bit more vulgar with a silly old guy with a girl bouncing on his knee young enough to be his granddaughter but the affect is the same people don’t like it.

I came across your blog and after reading that article, it made me feel ill.
I can’t imagine any respecting individual displaying that type of behavior in a Mall.
    Aren’t they ashamed of themselves?
I think foreigners are slowly bringing a bad reputation to themselves and that many Filipinos are wondering why even tolerate this from some outsider. This will affect all foreigners, even the good ones. As strangers see a foreigner, all they remember is the bad experience they had with the previous pervert.
This is caused by forums constantly telling these old farts to come on over and you will find a sweet young thing to care for you to your grave. I would have gone up to them and told them to “Get a room, no one wants to see you sucking face in public”.

The biggest thing though is you don’t see Filipino’s doing this so why would they think its acceptable for them to do it especially in such a public space. The reputation thing is getting worse as I know myself I avoid the mall I was in yesterday purely for the number of people I wouldn’t associate in the West never mind here being there. Does seem things are changing for the worse sad to say. Although ideally most people don’t care what people get upto in their own homes its just street side..

I also feel that by this behaviour these silver daddies treat the local population with contempt. They believe that because they have the money they need not respect the values of the locals. Much as i disagree with violence I feel that if some of the locals actually put them in their place very soon they will learn. Going back to an earlier posting of yours when you floated the need for a vigilante force to protect foreigners. You might recall I disagreed with you on that as I felt such vigilantes will only serve to benefit these parasites. Being expatriate with some money does not give one any special rights.

Agree at the ame time I do think some form of “assistance” for Expats who get caught up in things would be useful for example the British guy sitting in jail here waiting 2 years so far without even having a trial yet.

Thank you for posting this article. So many western retirees are believing many websites that promote cheap beer and young beautiful women to be had for a social security check. So many locals look upon these unions with contempt (although they don’t vocalize it). I believe that much of these activities are fostered by sites of the internet selling dreams for these old guys. They truly believe that age doesn’t matter, although it does. This influx of old expats with young women is giving the Philippines a very bad image; male retirees bold enough to display sex foreplay in public with girls younger than their grandaughters!
