Booked Pacific Pensionne first, but wasn’t satisfied – noisy, rooms run down, no fridge.
Explored the surrounding area one night and found the Diplomat 100 meters away from (and exactly behind) PP on Ramos Street. Quiet and safe area, but very close to Mango Square, Osmena Fuente, Robinson etc.
Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean rooms, fridge, safe, cable tv, 8 floors, reasonable prices for restaurant/room service (e.g. American Breakfast 150 PHP, Burger 100 PHP, Chicken Curry 180 PHP, Grilled Tuna 180 PHP, Steak 180 PHP). Fridge: Soft Drinks 40 PHP, San Miguel 50 PHP, Water 25 PHP.
Promotional room rate was 1.040 PHP for a single room. They accept credit cards without! extra charge.
Summary: Highly satisfied with their very reasonable priced hotel and I’ll return definitely.

    View outside our window

    entertaining family in livingroom

my brother and his Fiancee in front of Diplomat
More photos I stayed at the Diplomat Hotel for ten nights and had the best stay
I have had in years. The rooms are spotless, the staff service is second to none. I highly recomend the diplomat Hotel to anyone wanting a 4 star Hotel at a budget price.

Liked — The room size and how clean things were.
    Disliked — N/A

had to extend my stay in cebu for one more day and
stayed at the diplomat for a night as a last resort,
as all other hotels in the guides list were fully booked.
was expecting a semi-rundown edifice in a congested
    part of the city.
wrong notion. i was pleasantly surprised when i got there.
lucky that they had a room available for me. staff at reception
were really nice, friendly and quite helpful. had a room on
the 8th floor with a nice view. though room seems smallish,
it’s very clean. even the cleaners were friendly and polite.
and i only stayed there for 24 hours. good location as well.
would seriously consider booking there again next time i’m
    in cebu.

Stayed 4 days early March 2006.
Nice clean hotel, budget price but surprisingly good value. Good location.

All staff were friendly with an excellent and professional attitude – faultless in my experience.

Rooms were small, but very clean, beds firm and comfortable. Cable TV excellent. Aircon was good, but I missed having an electric kettle to make tea or coffee, but hot water in a thermos was available via room service for a small charge. Drinks in bar-frig were very reasonably priced.
Hot water for shower was warm only, but quite OK for the hot weather and climate. Bathroom towels were always very thin (only just did the job) and it is time they were replaced.

If I return to Cebu City, I would stay here again without hesitation.
