Congressional bet attacked in Cavite; 3 killed – Philippines election 2010

MANILA, Philippines (Update) – Three people were killed after unidentified gunmen ambushed a congressional candidate’s vehicle in Bacoor town, Cavite province Monday afternoon.

Police said former Cavite representative Plaridel Abaya, his children — Jay, Jamby and Boy Blue – and security men were on board separate vehicles when they were ambushed around 3 p.m. in Bacoor town. The group was on its way to the St. Michael City Homes Elementary School when they were ambushed.

Police said Abaya’s chief of staff, retired colonel Arnulfo Obillo, and 2 security guards — Mike Pilapil and a certain Sergeant Paraiso of the Philippine Marines — were killed in the ambush.

Police have yet to identify the group behind the ambush.
