One thing i would advise anyone travelling the provinces whichever direction you go in due to Christianity being a major part of life here you will find a beautiful church in most towns and cities all worth a visit.
The one above is Minglanilla church which i enjoyed (yes enjoyed!) getting up at 3am on the run up to Christmas for early mass.. It was so busy people overspilled in every direction literally 1000s of people were there for the masses although midweek they do tail off due to people working and getting tired..
The picture below is Argao Church which is another beautiful building and great for photos its also got a stony beach nearby. Just make sure you wear shoes or flip flops even if your going for a swim to get to the waters edge, the stones soon get red hot.
In Cebu city itself you will find the Basilica which took a major hit with an earthquake in recent years. Unfortunately its bell tower collapsed and as too often in the Philippines too little too late springs to mind as they should have worked on the church years ago. But at the same time the recent damage has spurred on repairs and improvements. This additional information has been added as it was after 2008 (around 2013 when the damage happened).
