One thing that most people find a struggle when coming to Cebu for the first time is where to meet your partner. Now I hear people on sites and forums telling others not to meet girlfriends at the Airport but to meet in a few days. This goes completely against everything thing that makes a relationship. If your here to meet a girlfriend who is likely to soon be your wife then meet her at the Airport.
Why? Because its to do with respect if for example you were here and your girlfriend didn’t bother to see you for a few days what would you think? Now I know a lot of guys do it for the simple reason they want to browse malls etc. for other women… but for that you are making life harder for the real people such as myself, you are the typical stereotype that westerners and Pinoys hate.
Getting back to the Airport once you get past immigration you will come to the bag search once you collected your bags, they are mainly after the second piece of paper that you received on the plane. So have it ready and you are likely to just a thank you and on your way. After that you are at the entrance where you see the doors at the start of the video above. Ignore the taxis drivers and the nice lady in front of you they are all hitting you for overpriced and illegal taxi fares. Where your partner will be waiting is across the pedestrian crossing. There is a gate on both sides and the guard will open it for you. Your girlfriend is unlikely to travel alone especially on first meetings so expect to see a sister, aunt or even several relatives. They are likely to have brought a vehicle with them which is parked on the car parks which is straight up the road that the camera pans round on. About two minute’s walk. This side of the walkway where you see a lot of people is where all the families wait and literally there can be hundreds of people. So would advise if you are meeting here during the day to ask your fiancée/Girlfriend to stand on the ramp which is behind me on this video. She can get a good view of you as you come through the gates and can come down to you. Also if your going to leave by taxi head up that ramp to Departures you will find plenty of taxis that will take you on the meter instead of trying to rip you off.
There was a case a month or so ago when an illegal taxi driver (unlicensed taxi) argued with a guard and a fight broke out. The result being the guard shot and killed him. So advise would be to head to departures for a taxi!
