Moving into the apartment has been ongoing for the last month but today was a case of taking down the air conditioning cleaning it out and reinstalling it into its new home. Couldn’t believe how filthy it had got inside in such a short period of time. I’m used to working on A/C in the UK but this looked as if it hadn’t been serviced for about 10 years. Yet its been stripped down a few times in the last 4. Nothing better than pulling it off the wall to get that black sludgy water pour down my side to start the day. Off to the shower dragging the air conditioning in with me to clean it at the same time.
Impressively though the whole Aprils father cut before fitted it perfectly and it wasn’t too much of a struggle to install. Swiftly followed by moving the beds, re-organising the new bedroom I am looking for a good nights sleep!
The kids took over my bed for months leaving me in exile to the sofa bed which isn’t making my bones feel any younger but did mean I could work during the night without waking other people up. Tonight though the new bunk beds are place and there is no excuse for escaping kids into the big bed. Also wanted to share a tip with you on the bunk beds as they are 3ft wide if you get a mattress that is an extra foot wider cut the foam so it will bend to create a wall bumper for the kids so they don’t hurt themselves. Also acts as a mini back rest for the kids.
Hopefully this will be our last move until we move to the UK. The advantage of doing this while I am here is we can get things organised and also the apartment will stay organised for family use only. Living in the Philippines has taught a long lesson in making sure anything of value is cared for by yourself as I find the majority of people will happily destroy something without even thinking twice. But in this case the people I know who will use it when we are in the UK are all trustworthy and reliable. The apartment upstairs is rented out at the moment but not sure for how much longer at which point will do some modernisation replacing the glass bladed windows with tinted double glazed windows, add a solar water heater, add a balcony to the side over the stairs and extend the bedroom with a walk in wardrobe/office. Plans for the future at the same time this will always be our base in the Philippines so makes sense to get it comfortable.
