We visited the Santiago Commercial Centre (SCC) yesterday morning to purchase a new frying pan. It was an interesting experience as we were followed everywhere we went by a shop assistant who was singing along to a pop song they were playing in the store. Unfortunately not only was it very annoying to be shadowed in this way but the shop assistant must have been completely tone deaf as she was totally out of tune. Thankfully we decided there was nothing else we needed in the store so we paid and left hastily. We noticed there was a photograph in the store of a woman wanted for shoplifting, so the management have obviously decided that no customer can be trusted, especially foreigners! In any case, how does a shop lifter carrying a young child and wearing t-shirt and jeans hide a 30cm frying pan without arousing suspicion? I think it’s time SCC changed its management policy because we will certainly think twice before bothering to give them our custom again.
