CEBU, Philippines – An American national believed to be a victim of robbery was found dead inside his house in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City last Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, George Harold Bounowski, 62, of Massachusetts was found with several stab wounds on his armpit, shoulder and chest.

Police said the stab wounds indicate that Bounowski no longer managed to defend himself.

Bounowski’s wife, Genevieve, told the police that her husband was alone at their house yesterday afternoon. When she came home around 4 p.m., she found him sprawled in the living room bloodied and lifeless.

Police said that everything in the sala was still in place, which made them believe that the suspect knew the victim and is familiar of the house beforehand.

Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Director Mariano Natuel said a “Task Force Bounowski” has been created to investigate deeper into the incident. Even Bounowski’s wife reportedly would not be spared in the probe.

In an interview over GMA-7’s Balitang Bisdak, Genevieve revealed that an estimated P300,000 to P400,000 worth of cash, mobile phones, and a laptop were lost during the incident. — Niña G. Sumacot and Bong Soriano of Banat News/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
