Abducted six year old child from Calajo-an, Minglanilla found dead in Barili

This is probably one of the hardest things I have had to write in my blog so far as Calajo-an is part of the same neighbourhood as mine. I live in Upper this happened in Lower. Ellah Joy Pique was a six year old child who studied at Calajo-an Elementary School in Minglanilla. She was reported of being abducted by two people on Tuesday of this week just after class dismissal at 4pm near the school. A classmate witnessed Ellah being taken away in a black SUV by one local female and a Foreign male (I can’t be clearer on the description of the male as everyone who isn’t a Filipino here is called a Foreigner). Its believed Ellah was lured by the female telling Ellah she was a friend of her mother.

Ellah was found by Barangay Councilman Junrey Bayno who found the girls body around 7.55am and immediately contacted the Barili police. Police Chief Inspector Marlon Gumabao promptly attended the scene to confirm the report. He found the naked body of Ellah wrapped in a white bed sheet. Three metres away they also found Ellah’s schoolbag containing the child’s clothing, lunch and two fifty peso bills. On confirming with Ellah’s father that she had no money when she left the parents home the Police currently believe the money was used to lure the child into the vehicle.

Knowing a child was missing in Minglanilla Sarvida from Barili police immediately contacted Minglanilla police at which point accompanied by PNP from Minglanilla Reynante Pique, Ellah’s father went to identify his daughter he was in a very distraught state and could not understand why anyone would want to murder his daughter.

A cut was found to the girls head and currently under investigation by SOCO (Scene Of Crime Operatives) to determine cause of death and if sexually abused. Local reports in Minglanilla have mentioned organ harvesting and that Kidneys and heart had been removed from the child although yet to be confirmed.

In a TV report the father Reynante said “he did not give a single peso to his daughter because she used to go home during for lunch and their house is just a short walk from the school. He also reportedly told her he could not fetch her from school because he had to fix a computer unit”. He also went on to say the area Ellah was abducted from is around 100m from the school and no security guard or tanod were assigned.

Its stresses me to think this happens and even worse when its on your doorstep. I would ask anyone who has children to not let them come and go to places freely the Philippines is not a safe country to walk around in and on top of that in the UK we don’t let our kids leave school or go to unattended its simply not allowed. Children have to be collected by a known adult and if not the child will remain there while the school tries to locate the parents. Its a sad world we live in these days and all I can say is take care of your kids because there is a good chance nobody else will.

Thank you for this info. I posted this on my fb page. This is very alarming. I am from Minglanilla. I have to call home and asked my son’s nanny to look after my son in school.

Its a shame these things are becoming more common in the world and I was very shocked that its happening on our own doorstep.

While I agree that the crime is heinous, shocking, and alarming, I do not agree that “the Philippines is not a safe country to walk around.” If it is not, then the streets would be empty, and everyone would be paranoid. Yet, every day, we can see locals and foreigners alike travel around the city doing business and engaging in leisure.

Kidnapping, murder, theft, and heinous crimes happen everywhere in the world, and developed countries are not spared by it.

    Hi Bart,
You are aware the Philippines is also the Kidnapping capital of the world? Kidnapping is hindering and badly affecting business in the Philippines as well as stopping badly needed investment. Kidnapping is also one of the leading ways for political faction groups to gain money in the country which is why more often than not the people captured are business orintated or purely financial which is why Foreigners are more likely to be targeted which is why a high number of Chinese and Missionary workers disappear and often never seen again.

It is also why there is an international alert warning people about coming to the country so I would say your risks are higher in the Philippines and with the fact poverty is increasing in the country risks will continue to grow.

i was also very shocked when i heard this news from a tricycle driver. this crime is very heinous. i couldn’t imagine what kind of heart and what kind of conscience the suspects have…

let us pray for the world because people are becoming very wicked day after day…let us pray and hope that they can feel God touching them, and trying to stop them from doing those crimes..the problem here is we, people, are becoming so preoccupied with our own thoughts without having to consult our conscience…

may Ella Joy Pique rest in eternal peace!!!
